S.O.L. in S.D.

I just spent the last three days in Orange County, trying to escape the fires of San Diego county. Ten in all? Perhaps it was 11. I lost count. Not to discount the fires that occurred throughout southern California, but without a doubt, San Diego county was hit hardest. To recap, I got a call from my roommate early Monday morning (while at Tbear's place) telling me that I may want to get my stuff since the neighborhood next door was told to evacuate. So, that's what I did. Everything was fine for awhile until Tbear got the call from authorities about 24 hrs later. I knew this was coming - I had woken up at about 5AM Tuesday morning to a smoke filled house. I could see cars whizzing by just outside the window. I was scared at this point and woke up my boyfriend so we could get the hell out of dodge. Problem is we couldn't head north, the Fallbrook fire had closed the 15 freeway. We couldn't head south because of the fires in that direction. So we headed West, then North. Thank you to my dear friends for letting me stay at their place this whole time. They even fed us well! Tomorrow I finally return home.

New Opportunity

That position I interviewed for last week? I was offered the job late this afternoon by the director of that department. Woohoo! I told him I would think about it over the weekend and let him know by Monday morning, which he said was no problem at all. I'm pretty sure I will go for it though. I really feel it's time for a change. That would mean road warrior no more!

On the road...

It's been an exhausting two weeks. Recruitment season is in full force and I'm covering plenty of ground in the southern Cal area. So far I've attended three events in Orange County, did two presentations at two high schools in Temecula, plus a college fair in good ol' Jurupa. Oh yea, then I squeezed in a job interview too. That's just the beginning. I have plenty more fairs and presentations to do during the month. I will have to live on red bull and starbucks to make it through.
