Lakeview Restaurant

I love discovering cool restaurants in my neighborhood. Today I found not one but two great Mexican places! Sure, there are lots of good Mexican restaurants where I live, but these two are stand-out! This afternoon I went to a tortilleria with my coworkers. Not only does this place make tortillas that are sold at the local Henry's and Sprouts, but they serve some delicious breakfast burritos and lunch combos as well. Not to mention pan dulce galore.

This evening my friend took me to an awesome Mexican restaurant for my birthday. The food was good, but they best part was the great view of the nearby lake. Plus it was just outside of the city, so it had a nice country feel.

Everyone's doin' it...

Taking public transportation that is. Through the roof gas prices will do that. They completed the light rail system in my neigbhorhood earlier this year. I've always had in interest in learning about suburban sprawl and it's negative consequences. I did a research paper way back when and had learned that LA initially had a train system throughout the area that was torn out to make room for freeways. Kinda funny that after we got ourselves into an awful situation of jam-packed freeways and two to three-hour commutes, the light rail was built in an attempt to fix the mess that was created.

Why I Heart Trolls

1. 80's nostalgia

2. Conversation starters

3. Various ethnicities and occupations represented.

So my collection is growing, to the point that I've begun to lose a couple. Co-workers find it funny to steal them. Chippentroll is nowhere to be found. Yes, that's correct, a Chippendale troll has gone missing. I know, it doesn't get much more ridiculous then that.

Thirty-four

Another birthday came and went. Unfortunately I had to work. It still ended up being a very nice day.

After I presented information to my students at orientation, two O-team members (current students who help with orientation) sang me happy birthday and gave me a birthday muffin. Ok, it was one of the free muffins they were passing out to new students but hey, it was still cute.

Other highlights:

My office decorated and a cheesy tiara placed on my keyboard.

A homemade card with a big picture of me and two of my favorite work buddies.

Going home early!

A very yummy dinner with my Tbear. He took me to my favorite Thai place upon my request. The picture above says it all, doesn't it?

Dessert at a cool coffee shop with live music. The place was packed full of hippies (that's the kind of town we were in!).
